Poem, "I Feel More Precious"

This morning in Sunday School we had this poem by Michelangelo (and I didn't know he'd even written poetry!) Anyway it's a nice poem and I thought I'd share it.

I Feel More Precious
by Michelangelo
I feel more precious, I am more than one,
For, since you held my heart, my worth grew more:
A marble block, when carving has been done,
Is not the rough, cheap stone it was before.

As paper painted or just written on
No longer is a rag one can ignore,
So, since you looked at me, and I was won,
My value has increased for evermore.

Now with your splendor printed on my face,
I go like one who, dressed with every kind
Of amulets and arms, can dare all wars.
I can walk on the ocean, brave all blaze,
Give in your name the light to all the blind,
And my saliva heals all poisonous sores.

J.W.: Goodbye to a Dear Friend

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to a dear friend of mine, a 32-year-old Appaloosa horse named J.W. I have been helping take care of him for more than four years. We began a very special friendship in 2007. J and I have shared in each other's lives and we've learned a lot from each other. I am sad to say goodbye but I know that it was the right time. Today J was taken away from our world and I am sure he will be kicking up his heels like a colt in Heaven.
A poem I wrote today while I was thinking of J:
My Heart is Like an Empty Place
by Katy Allie
--
My heart is like an empty place
Filled up with things I love
People, places, friends and such
Things I hold dear

When something is gone from my heart
When death or separation comes
The empty place is back
Void of all but feelings and memories

The empty place will never completely be filled
It will always be an aching place
Dulled with time but there making you remember
All your memories always flooding through you

I can recall memories of dear ones
Those gone from sight but not from mind or spirit
I cannot see them on this earth but I can see them in my mind
They are there just the same.

poem

Hey everyone! This is a poem I wrote yesterday I thought I'd share.

Nature is Bright and Gloomy
--
I say
Nature is bright
and gloomy
like a necklace
chain mostly dull
but shining through
as well
The bright leaves
of Autumn fiery
blow
up near the endless
gray sky while
raindrops cold and
transparent
pelt down.
I say
Nature is bright
and gloomy.
In the woods
there are gray rocks
nameless
and mysterious
because of
what they hide
Some of them you break
open
and find garnets and
other things shining
worthless yet bright.
I say Nature is bright
and gloomy
for when the leaves
sink down
covering old dying
crackly grass
the sky looks down
blank gray
and gloomy
but down here
it is bright
