J.W.: Goodbye to a Dear Friend

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to a dear friend of mine, a 32-year-old Appaloosa horse named J.W. I have been helping take care of him for more than four years. We began a very special friendship in 2007. J and I have shared in each other's lives and we've learned a lot from each other. I am sad to say goodbye but I know that it was the right time. Today J was taken away from our world and I am sure he will be kicking up his heels like a colt in Heaven.
A poem I wrote today while I was thinking of J:
My Heart is Like an Empty Place
by Katy Allie
--
My heart is like an empty place
Filled up with things I love
People, places, friends and such
Things I hold dear

When something is gone from my heart
When death or separation comes
The empty place is back
Void of all but feelings and memories

The empty place will never completely be filled
It will always be an aching place
Dulled with time but there making you remember
All your memories always flooding through you

I can recall memories of dear ones
Those gone from sight but not from mind or spirit
I cannot see them on this earth but I can see them in my mind
They are there just the same.

some old pics :)

I thought it'd be fun to post some kinda old pics that were taken of me. :)

This is me at the Badlands in South Dakota, in I think 07.

At the Aladdin General Store in Wyoming (07 as well: I think Aladdin had like a population of 17 or something at the time.)

Me at Sylvan Lake in South Dakota in 07. Man, my hair was messy!! :)

Me and J, the horse I help take care of. Not sure exactly what year this was, maybe 08? Don't exactly like the way I look in this pic, but J looks fine! (but maybe a little annoyed!) ;)

J & I

J (his actual name is longer than that but nobody actually calls him that!! although sometimes we call him J.W.) is the horse I help take care of. He boards at our friends' house. He's an extremely pretty blanket appy. (appaloosa!) :) He also has a very nice personality. :) He's actually blind--(he has a syndrome that is prevalent in appaloosas that causes blindness). He's getting up there in years but is still quite the up-and-about guy. Anyway we took these pictures in December, it was before we really got dumped on out here by all this snow. Enjoy the pics! :)

Here you can see J's really beautiful coloring. He wasn't really in the mood for pictures that day! He was like, "You want me to stand still and not move? Humph, no thanks!"

Isn't he sweet??

Hum, this is a nice sunny spot!!! :) J's great at finding those!

"Your hand smells rather interesting. What sorts of things have you been doing with those gloves?"
:) Hope you enjoyed the pics.
