hey everyone!

Hey All!
Hope everyone's having a great summer. For me, vacation is almost over. I have two weeks after this week, and then it's back to school...I will probably only have to do school in the mornings for a little while, though. This is what we have done every year at our house. Let me tell you, it's easier to ease back into schoolwork this way.
The picture to the right is me with two of our chickens. Violet and Sunny are Americanas. They are a bit older now, as this picture was taken this past winter (as you can see!) Violet is on the left, Sunny on the right. (Yes, for those who recognize the names, they are named after the two sisters in L. Snicket's "A Series of Unfortunate Events"). Would have been funny to name the rooster we got along these two and a couple of other hens (all different breeds), Klaus, but he already had a name when I named these two (Silver). Sunny is the nicer of the two: she is very friendly. Violet is not like her namesake. She is, what my brother Daniel and I call a "freak-out". She is not as much of a freak-out as other of our chickens (we have 22 chickens in all), however, some of whom get scared if you just walk past them.
Talk to you all later!

  2. Younger chickens can be fun, too, because sometimes they can be friendlier than older chickens. We had this group of like, I think 10 chicks, and like, when they were pullets they were friendly. :)
